Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.
If you want a smooth ride on your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with a repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the decade that had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers which can handle a wider variety of terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.
The idea is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and a 3 year old and found it was able to handle grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is sturdy to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.
Another thing to think about is the size of the seat and shape. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.
An excellent option for taking on off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers until age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat unit. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket with zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels means that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also allow you to maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature swivel wheels on the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is particularly useful when you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which means they can handle different terrains and are much more flexible than four wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures so you'll need to keep an repair kit, spare tube and pump handy.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and the Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both of these buggies have larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly go up and down kerbs. The buggies also come with a suspension that Kath says "smooths out bumps with great efficiency".

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide and they may be a challenge to fit into narrow spaces. This can be an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to to get through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Most models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much more maneuverable, especially with a child in the back. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels can turn on a dime, and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for challenging terrain such as cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive in rough terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was particularly helpful." I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only downside of this incredible maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces, something to keep in mind especially if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeled buggy could be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the perfect way to protect your little one from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. They are easy and quick to install and make your child feel secure and safe whilst out on the town or on the trail.
The bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines on your Slim Twin stroller. It has a soft, cushioned surface that offers a comfortable place for your child to grab onto while walking. The robust construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will be comfortable strolling around the town without worrying about falling or leaning forward.
The sling seat is snug inside the frame instead of sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lowest center of gravity at the appropriate height for your baby and also delivering excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air-filled tyres.
With a stylish and sophisticated look This bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colors, it can be customized to match your style. The bumper bar can be removed and put in place by a quick-release mechanism. Furthermore the bar is easy to clean and is made of sturdy materials that are easy to wipe down. This makes it an excellent option for families who want a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggie offers the highest level of maneuverability and performance when going off-road. With perfect design and engineering, as well as weight distribution this type of buggy can change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.
The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, instead of on top like modular seats. This lets it have a lower center of gravity which means it's more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you don't have to exert much effort to push the buggy's front end over a curb) and provides more stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled that allow you to enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
As the only pushchair that is all-terrain in our collection that comes with a seat for parents that can also be used as a car seat or carrycot to ensure the future of your family and have fun on every moment of your day and for years to come - all within the footprint of one buggy!
And that's pushchair 3 wheels should love this buggy Our MFM reviewer Kath loved how spacious it is, too. There's an easily accessible, large basket that is surprising spacious for a vehicle of this size. There's also a handy pouch on the back of the unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood to keep your keys and phone.
